‘Employees respond to appreciation expressed through recognition of their good work because it confirms their work is valued by others. When employees and their work are valued, their satisfaction and productivity rises, and they are motivated to maintain or improve their good work.’ (Kim Harrison, We can think of our BNI members the same way. When we appreciate each other, our Giver’s Gain becomes simple.

There are several ways to give recognition in a chapter meeting. Notable Networker awards and certificates are the most recognizable way that members are applauded for their efforts of Giver’s Gain, resulting in most referrals, one-to-ones, continuing education units and/or most visitors. Second is the door prize, again taking notice of those members who live out Giver’s Gain in being eligible for the door prize by passing a referral to a fellow member the previous week. Testimonials are also a way to make mention of a member who you have had a good experience with, received a good referral from or had a meaningful one-to-one with.

You can also recognize chapter members outside the chapter meeting as well. Writing reviews on Google or Facebook are great ways to help build members reputation online.  One good review can make all the difference to a growing business. Did you know that you can write a testimonial about a member on connect? This is also a great way to build credibility with other members.
When we refer one of our members to someone we know in need of that members product or service, we are also giving that member recognition. It is our chance to sing praises about the member we are sending the referral to. And when we follow up with our members on the referrals we have received, this is also another perfect opportunity to celebrate that member for the referral they passed to you.
And of coarse, every year our Executive Directors Vince and Kris Vigneri hold an Awards Ceremony for their BNI Members across the region.

There are many ways to show recognition and it is easy to see why Recognition is a BNI Core Value. Recognition is appreciation. Don’t ever miss a chance to show someone how much you appreciate them!
