INCREASE YOUR BUSINESS, INCREASE YOUR REFERRALS, INCREASE YOUR FITNESS LEVEL

A fellow Profit Powerhouse Chapter member recently asked me to “hard sell” them on getting in shape. Taking a deep breath, I did a quick search of my belief system. First, I’m not a hard seller. Never have been. Secondly, I can’t sell ANYONE on getting in shape. I only sell the tools to use once you find your motivation. The motivation to change has to come from within and that starts with a really great Why.
As BNI members, we are looking for more business, better ways to serve our current client base, to grow personally, and to deepen relationships. What if I told you that exercise is a huge catalyst for all those things and an integral part of building your business empire? I’m here to spark your Why. It’s inside of you! We just need to identify it. Here are 3 reasons why business owners and professionals should embrace an exercise routine:

1.    Continue building your network: Whether you are exercising at the gym, participating in a team sport, or utilizing a personal trainer you can network with prospective clients, strengthen current relationships, or find new referrals for your fellow BNI members! When you are exercising alongside someone a lot of barriers come down and you get a unique view of someone’s personality. This allows for a new level of communication. I guarantee you will learn more about someone sweating alongside them regularly than over a single cup of coffee.
2.    Spark Creativity + Overcome Challenges: Research shows that aerobic exercise increases your cognitive function. Working out increases blood flow to the brain. A short jog or walk may bring the solution to the problem you and your team has been searching for. Setting a fitness goal can help entrepreneurs refresh on the importance of setting goals and uncovering the determination to complete them. I am a huge believer in the idea that success breeds success. Small successes in your fitness regimen will undoubtedly flow into every area of your life.
3.    Improve Your Energy Levels: Do you say, “I don’t have enough time or energy?” Let’s learn from self-made billionaire Richard Branson, "I hear people say they don't have time for fitness, which is true. You don't have time for it, you make time for it. There is nothing more important than your health.” Branson begins every day with exercise. It gets the blood pumping and makes you feel like you've achieved something before you've even started working. Study after study has concluded that those who complain of fatigue experience an increase of energy and reduction in tiredness with low-intensity physical exercise. It also helps you sleep better which in turn boosts your energy.

Another chapter member once told me that I’m not in the business of fitness, but that I am actually in the business of self-confidence. Those words created a huge shift for me and the way I view what I do. Whether you are building your business, going through a rough patch, or already experiencing success professionally, the smallest fitness win will build your self-confidence. This confidence will spill into other areas of your life. A great workout translates to every area of your life. You will feel energized, confident, creative, and connected! Remember: success breeds success!
